Our organization has received yet another honorary distinction for its work in the field of the circular economy! At a special event organized by BOUSSIAS EVENTS, Aegean Rebreath was awarded the Platinum Award for its contribution to promoting the circular economy, and more specifically for the practice of Marine Litter Collection Stations (M.L.C.S.).
This practice has been acknowledged at both European and national levels, given the multiple benefits it offers in terms of relieving pressure on the marine environment, educating local authorities, raising awareness within local communities and promoting the blue economy.
To date, the Marine Litter Collection Stations have contributed to the collection of 755,000 recyclable items through source separation and 50 tons of fishing gear. This effort is based on the voluntary contribution of both the municipal authorities that are part of the Blue Municipalities Network as well as fishing communities.
In addition, our organization has developed similar initiatives to promote the circular economy in collaboration with international groupς. Initiatives that have served as best practices and have provided valuable insights at both local and national levels.
Without a doubt, this honorary distinction belongs to all the volunteers of Aegean Rebreath who, over the years, have worked to highlight and communicate to local communities the importance and role of the circular economy. We therefore extend a heartfelt thank-you to the event organizers as well, for recognizing the efforts of these volunteers.
