AEGEAN REBREATH, in pursuit of its operational objectives, is committed to a course of the highest integrity, which avoids even the appearance of impropriety in the conduct of its affairs.

Loyalty and Independence

The Management Committee as well as the members/employees/volunteers/trainees of the Organisation should act independently of any authority or person external to the Organisation during the exercise of their tasks and functions. In particular, they may not seek or accept instructions from any government or any of its subdivisions or agencies.

Compliance with Laws, Rules and Regulations

It is the Organisation’s policy to strictly comply with all laws, rules and regulations that apply to its business. It is the personal responsibility of each Individual to adhere to the standards and restrictions imposed by these laws, rules and regulations and to prevent, detect and report instances of non compliance. There are no circumstances where the Organisation will allow that any law or regulatory requirement be disregarded in the conduct of its operations.

Enforcement and Duty to Report

Members, employees, volunteers and trainees shall report any actual or suspected violation of the Code to the Management Committee. All should organise their area of responsibility in such way that violations of the Code can be observed, and relevant reports are received and investigated. Violations may result in reprimand, claim for damages and/or termination of membership/employment/volunteer work/traineeship or exclusion from the Organisation. The above principles form part of the Organisation’s general policy.

Conflicts of Interest

A conflict of interest occurs when an Individual’s private interests interfere or appear to interfere with the interests of the Organisation as a whole. While it is not possible to describe every situation in which a conflict of interest may arise, Individuals must never use or attempt to use their position or rank with the Organisation to obtain personal benefits. Any Individual who is aware of a conflict of interest, or is concerned that such a conflict might arise, should address the matter with their Cluster Coordinator immediately.

Confidentiality and Personal Data Privacy

Confidential information includes any internal information obtained in the course of operating, including but not limited to non-public information concerning the Organisation’s operations, database, donors, sponsors and suppliers, contracts, agreements and transactions and any legal proceedings commenced by or against the Organisation as well as any non-public information that might, if disclosed, be harmful to the Organisation. Any Individual in possession of such information must maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and must not disclose the same unless lawful authorisation is obtained.

Protection and Proper Use of Organisation Assets

The Organisation’s assets are only to be used for legitimate operational purposes and only by authorised Individuals. This applies both to tangible assets (such as diving equipment, audio-visual equipment etc.) and intangible assets (such as software, confidential information, databases, patents, trademarks, intellectual property rights, etc.). Individuals have a responsibility to protect the Organisation’s assets from theft and loss and to ensure their efficient use. If an Individual becomes aware of theft, waste or misuse of the Organisation’s assets, such Individual should report this to the Management Committee immediately.

All Individuals participating in the Organisation in any capacity whatsoever (members/employees/volunteers/trainees) commit to not discriminate on the grounds of and/or are offensive with respect to appearance, race, ethnic origin, religion or belief, political belief, gender, sex, culture or place of birth, disability, age or sexual orientation.
