Minimizing our environmental footprint when visiting areas in Greece or even other countries is a core principle for our volunteers. Equally important is raising awareness among the local communities we visit. These fundamental principles were upheld even during a leisure trip undertaken by members of Aegean Rebreath to the Philippines!
During their stay, our team organized educational activities at a school, as well as coastal and underwater clean-up operations on two islands in the country. What touched us the most was the overwhelming interest and high participation of local communities in our initiatives. We will never forget the gratitude expressed by the residents for these efforts, proving once again that marine pollution is a global threat.
This was our fifth symbolic action in countries across different continents, aiming to spread the message that as visitors, we can offset the impact and footprint we leave in the places we explore. This initiative was the least we could do for a country blessed with a stunning marine and coastal environment!
A heartfelt thank you to the Scubaholics dive center for their support and to the local Bunsoran team for their invaluable assistance!
