Significant Progress in the Program to Strengthen Universities in Asia

We are making satisfactory strides, together with our partners, in the European program (36 months) aimed at capacity building at four universities in Malaysia and Indonesia!

Within a year, internal tools have already been developed, including a program website, a Quality Assurance and Program Evaluation Plan, as well as reports highlighting successful “Quadruple Helix innovation models” implemented in Greece and Cyprus. These reports also include recommendations for effectively adapting and replicating these models in the two Asian countries.

Most importantly, the four Asian universities have initiated processes to establish “Sustainable Blue Economy Centres” (S.B.E.C.), which will enhance the effective collaboration between universities, representatives of the “blue” economy, local authorities and other relevant stakeholders. As part of the centers’ establishment, the administrative and academic staff of the universities will be trained through a specially designed capacity-building program, which will be developed and delivered by the partners in Greece and Cyprus (Symplexis, University of Cyprus, and Aegean Rebreath).

This program is expected to yield valuable insights for the partners while being of great significance to our organization. Similar “Sustainable Blue Economy Centres” could potentially be created in our own country as well.
