In a private event attended by journalists, we announced our new major program for the island of Spetses, member of the Blue Municipalities Network, which will be implemented in collaboration with local authorities and supported by MAC Cosmetics Greece. This comprehensive program includes nine action pillars focusing on consultation with the local community, awareness-raising, promotion of tap water, cleanup activities, research, education and waste management. Importantly, prior to the announcement of the program, extensive consultations were held with the local authorities and key stakeholders to shape the final content of the interventions and to initiate the active participation of local stakeholders.
During the event, we had the opportunity to inform the community of journalists about the program’s rationale and our goals, which can be summarized in one sentence: the development of the Spetses program as a strategic model that could be utilized nationwide by islands facing significant challenges related to waste and pollution.
The program will commence in the second half of 2024 and continue throughout 2025. The program’s ambassador, Eleni Foureira, attended the event and we look forward to her presence in the field to contribute to our efforts!
