Aegean Rebreath in Malaysia for the European project SustainaBlue!

Aegean Rebreath traveled to Malaysia to take part in the kick off meeting for the SustainaBlue project where we met all our fellow project partners! The project funded by the ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE program, aims to support four Higher Education Institutions in Malaysia and Indonesia through the collaboration of NGOs, SCOs and other organizations from Greece, Cyprus, Malaysia, and Indonesia in their effort to enhance the relevance of higher education to the blue economy.

SustainaBlue seeks to improve the skills of teaching staff at four universities in the two Asian countries, by focusing on developing study programs and teaching methods related to “blue” skills. A key aspect of the project is the establishment of “Sustainable Blue Economy Centers” and fostering collaboration networks with the blue industry and the broader economy market.

The meeting was held at the University of Kuala Terengganu (UMT) in Malaysia, where for 2 days we had the opportunity to engage with our partners, share practices, and meticulously plan the implementation of the project’s next steps. The hospitality extended was warm, encompassing visits to university facilities, exploring points of interest in Kuala Terengganu, and meetings with local stakeholders and organizations.

Despite the considerable distance traveled, the team returned to Greece with joy, realizing the international recognition of our practices beyond European territory. Given the common obstacles and challenges, we are eager to continue actively contributing to these cross-border efforts.
