Back to a landmark island, this time with a strong partnership!

Two years after our first visit to Antiparos we returned to the island that has been a great milestone for our activities and the starting point of our marine litter collection stations project. Antiparos marked the beginning of this significant initiative that has already been spreading at a fast pace on many Greek islands.

Two days full of emotions, meetings and discussions with old friends, individuals and communities that have been, since day one, fundamental partners in this ambitious effort which has already come into existence: 7.200 pieces of recyclable materials and 1,8 tons of fishing gear and nets is the remarkable outcome of the station within the past 1.5 year.

The entire team was thrilled and on their toes for our actions and next steps! We performed coastal cleaning of 3 beaches, underwater cleaning in the port and the reefs, research activities and consultations with the local community regarding the success of the station up to now as well as our next steps.

This time our visit had the invaluable support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) in the context of our recently established partnership aiming at making the seas Re-Breathe! A heartfelt thank you to SNF for its substantial support to our new journey as well as the entire team and the local community for being such vital contributors to the achievements on the island. Antiparos will be one of our frequent destinations from now on so that we will reinforce those remarkable results.
