This summer we completed a very important, holistic intervention for the protection of the unique ecosystem of Voidokilia.
Voidokilia is one of the most famous beaches in Greece, which in addition to the aesthetics of its landscape, has a great ecological value for many species, including migratory birds and sea turtles. That is why this whole ecosystem, together with the Divari lagoon, has been included in the Natura 2000 network.
By demarcating the dunes, we solved the chronic problem of uncontrolled encroachment of the dunes by passing vehicles and illegal camping. In addition, by placing signs in visible locations, visitors are informed about the environmental value of the area and are encouraged to respect this sensitive ecosystem.
We continue our action in the area by monitoring the results of our intervention in order to develop good practices that will be used in other protected areas in the future.
